Escheat: If you die without a will AND have no heirs, the property goes to the State Government. (The state is the ultimate heir).Adverse Possession (Squatter's Rights): If someone openly occupies your land, pays taxes on it, and claims it as their own for 7 years (in Florida), they can go to court and steal the title from you legally.Eminent Domain: The government takes private property for public use (building a highway). They must pay you "Just Compensation," but you cannot say no.Foreclosure: The bank takes the title because you failed to pay the mortgage.
