FLORIDA REAL ESTATE SALES ASSOCIATE COURSE

Legal Descriptions

Section 16 of 17

How does the county keep track of who owns what slice of the puzzle? They create Tax Maps, based on Recorded Plat Maps. Remember the "Lot and Block" method? When a developer records a Plat Map for a subdivision, the Tax Assessor takes that map and redraws it for their own system. They assign a distinct number to each lot on the map. Even if the land isn't in a fancy subdivision (like a farm out on a county road), it still gets mapped. The Assessor divides the entire county into sections and assigns numbers to every distinct ownership tract.
